What is TOEFL?
The TOEFL test exams reading, listening, speaking and writing skills and assess people’s ability in each one of these skills The language used in TOEFL is of a more academic style than one might find in the IELTS, and the test uses academic content with integrated tasks.
Test format
Internet-based test
The TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) tests reading, listening, speaking, and writing at a test centre, The TOEFL iBT Home Edition is the same TOEFL iBT test you would take at a test centre, just taken from your own home and monitored online by a human proctor.
- Listening (41-57 minutes)
- 5-7 passages, each containing 5–6 questions
- Writing (50 minutes)
- 2 tasks
- Reading (54-72 minutes)
- 3-4 passages, each containing 10 questions
- Speaking (17 minutes)
- 4 tasks
